Coco Chips
Cocochips are made from the outer husk of coconut palms. They are typically produced by shredding and drying the husks, then sifting them to remove any dirt or debris. Coco chips are often used as a soil amendment or growing medium in horticulture, due to their high water-holding capacity and ability to improve soil structure. They can also be used as a mulch or ground cover in landscaping, as they help to retain moisture and suppress weeds.
- Using a machine equipped with larger blade husks are first cut into Large pieces.
- Next the larger pieces are cut into smaller chunks . The chunk size can be small ( upto 6 mm ) or Medium (8 mm to 12 mm) and Large (upto 18 mm)
- The coco peat that is produced during the process is sieved using a rotary siever.
- The chunks are either washed (Low EC) and dried or Just dried with out any washing (High EC) based on client requests.
- These chunks are then compressed into 5 kg blocks and shipped.
Applications for High EC Husk Chips
- Husk chips have a higher water retention capacity than coco peat. and hence they are used as substrate for reptiles.
- Reptiles like snakes are found to exhibit better breeding with coco husk chips as substrate.
- High EC husk chips ( unwashed ) is used for snake bedding. Size as requested by the customer.
- Particularly useful for reptiles that require humid and moist environment for their survival and better breeding.
